Do You Wear High Heels to Work Everyday…?

Do you wear high heels to work Monday-Friday then go on to wear them into the weekend…? Yes, I hear you say! well, you’re in good company and you may want to continue reading this blog.

I’m sure you’ve heard it before, but wearing high heeled shoes on a long term basis can be damaging to your foot health; not only on a short term basis, but on a long term basis too. We understand that a beautiful pair of heels can make your OOTD (outfit of the day) pop, and finish an outfit off to perfection. So, instead of insisting that you never wear heels again (let’s be honest, that’s not going to happen anyway *smile*), here are some top tips to consider when looking after your feet.

  1. Commute to work in trainers –  wear a comfy pair of trainers on your way to the office, then swap them out for your heels once you get to your desk. That way you are giving your feet a good start to the day!
  2. Choose your heels wisely – not all heels are made equal (look at infographic below on ‘pressure’). Consider wearing a pair of a lower heeled shoes with a rounded toe. This will give your your toes more room to move over a pair of pointed heeled shoes and having a lower heel will cause a lot less pressure on your forefoot.
  3. Go and see your local Podiatrist – seeing a specialist that can spot the signs of any abnormalities within your feet, that have been possibly caused by wearing high heels on a prolonged basis, is going to help you out in the long run. As the saying goes, PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN A CURE!
